Before registering, check these 2 things first

Basic requirements

  • Malaysian citizen with a valid MyKad.
  • Minimum age: 21.
  • Clean criminal record.
  • Active email address and Malaysian phone number.
  • Vehicle meets APAD and JPJ requirements.

Main documents

  • MyKad / NRIC.
  • Malaysian Competent Driving Licence (CDL).
  • Valid PSV-D licence.
  • Clear profile photo.
  • E-hailing insurance.
  • Vehicle registration / VOC.
  • PUSPAKOM certificate where applicable.
Vehicle: only vehicles less than 15 years old are accepted. Road tax and insurance must be valid. PUSPAKOM is required for vehicles aged 3 years or more.

Vehicle & EVP

A new vehicle application / linking request is typically reviewed within 5–7 working days.

According to official Bolt guidance, the basic registration form can take less than 15 minutes when your documents are ready.
18.5%Current commission on each completed trip in Malaysia. The remaining 81.5% is credited to the driver account.

What drivers should know

  • Commission applies to cash and card trips.
  • No commission is charged on tips, bonuses, tolls and the KLIA2 airport booking fee.
  • Commission is calculated automatically and can be viewed in the Earnings tab.
  • A RM3 cancellation fee is paid to the driver for eligible passenger cancellations after 5 minutes on card trips.

Fuel subsidy for eligible e-hailing drivers

Bolt shares mileage data with APAD for government verification, so drivers do not need to submit mileage logs manually. Additional eligibility depends on the previous month’s trips across registered e-hailing platforms.

  • Must be a Malaysian citizen with a valid MyKad.
  • A valid e-hailing PSV licence is required.
  • A valid EVP is required.
  • Additional e-hailing quota is typically updated around the middle of the month based on the previous month’s activity.

Frequently asked questions

How old can the vehicle be?

Official Bolt Malaysia guidance states that vehicles must be less than 15 years old.

Does a 3-year-old vehicle need PUSPAKOM?

Yes. A PUSPAKOM certificate is required when the vehicle is 3 years old or more.

Can more than one car be active?

No. The car-linking guide states that only one vehicle can be active at a time. When applying for a new car, the previous vehicle’s EVP cancellation must be handled.

Can I use a rental car?

Yes, if the vehicle meets eligibility requirements, supporting proof such as a rental agreement is provided, and it is classified as a private vehicle.

What is Bolt’s commission?

The current rate stated by Bolt Malaysia is 18.5% for each completed trip.

What if my document is rejected?

Check the rejection reason in the Driver Portal / app and resubmit the correct document. You can also use the Support page on this website.
